Author Guidelines

The Journal of Human Sport and Exercise is an international bilingual publication, in English and Spanish. It features papers related to physical education, sports physiology, sports medicine and traumatology, sports psychology, and any other areas directly related to physical education and sport.
All contributions must be original and be directly related to education and sport, or serve as the basis for future application to research in such areas. All papers shall be reviewed by the journal’s editorial panel, which will consider quality, clarity, style and relevance of the work as regards the goals and purposes of the journal. In any case, final decisions on publication, be it total or partial, will be made by the editorial board.
Papers may take the form of editorials, original papers, review articles, technical notes, new technologies, special articles and letters to the editor.

  • Original papers. Original contributions on a specific topic, with a maximum of 20 pages and no more than 60 references. The manuscript shall have the following layout: introduction, summary, keywords, materials and methodology, results, discussion and conclusions.
  • Review articles. Based on a critical examination of the literature, analyzing the various approaches to a specific topic, with a maximum of 25 pages and no more than 100 references.
  • Technical notes. Description of new techniques or modifications to the already existing ones, with a maximum of 10 pages and no more than 30 references.
  • New technologies. Critical review of new equipment, with a maximum of 10 pages and no more than 30 references. The manuscript shall have the following layout: introduction, summary, keywords, materials and methodology, results, discussion and conclusions.
  • Special articles. Historical reviews, teaching methodology and legal or financial topics related to physical education and sport, with a maximum of 10 pages and no more than 30 references.
  • Letters to the editor. Brief opinions on contributions published in edudeporte or current issues. Letters should not exceed two pages and 5 references.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Complete the Revision Sheet and email it back to the editorial office when you are sending the final version of your paper.

  2. Ensure that all authors' names, including their first and last names, and full contact details (including the centre where work was done, postal address, email, telephone and fax numbers) are listed.

  3. Ensure that the corresponding author is clearly marked.

  4. Send email with an electronic version of your paper saved either as a Word or .rtf file, or using a programme convertible by Word. (Please visit the Instructions to Authors section of our website for details on preparing figures

  5. Ensure that your paper conforms fully to our style requirements - please visit the Instructions to Authors section of our website for full details on preparing your manuscript

  6. Double check that your references are complete and accurate, and that their format conforms to our style requirements.

  7. Double check that all tables and figures are correctly labelled, and that the numbers add up.

  8. Provide a running head

  9. Provide a list of keywords

  10. Provide an abstract

Privacy Statement

Each author warrants that his or her submission to the Work is original and that he or she has full power to enter into this agreement. Neither this Work nor a similar work has been published elsewhere in any language nor shall be submitted for publication elsewhere while under consideration by JHSE. Each author also accepts that the JHSE will not be held legally responsible for any claims of compensation.

Authors wishing to include figures or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright holder(s) and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.

Please include at the end of the acknowledgements a declaration that the experiments comply with the current laws of the country in which they were performed. The editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the abovementioned requirements. The author(s) will be held responsible for false statements or failure to fulfill the above-mentioned requirements.

Tranfer of Copyright

In consideration of JHSE’s publication of the Work, the authors hereby transfer, assign, and otherwise convey all copyright ownership worldwide, in all languages, and in all forms of media now or hereafter known, including electronic media such as CD-ROM, Internet, and Intranet, to JHSE. If JHSE should decide for any reason not to publish an author’s submission to the Work, JHSE shall give prompt notice of its decision to the corresponding author, this agreement shall terminate, and neither the author nor JHSE shall be under any further liability or obligation.

Each author certifies that he or she has no commercial associations (e.g., consultancies, stock ownership, equity interest, patent/licensing arrangements, etc.) that might pose a conflict of interest in connection with the submitted article, except as disclosed on a separate attachment. All funding sources supporting the Work and all institutional or corporate affiliations of the authors are acknowledged in a footnote in the Work.

Each author certifies that his or her institution has approved the protocol for any investigation involving humans or animals and that all experimentation was conducted in conformity with ethical and humane principles of research.
