Abstract

Olympic education programs have officially been part of the Olympic Games Program since 1994. However, few of these programs are evaluated. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the Olympic education program of the organizing committee of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, based on the analysis of its documents and the opinion of the education professionals who took part in it. Participants were 626 individuals who answered a semi-structured questionnaire applied electronically. We note the lack of a defined pedagogical theory, performance limited to knowledge and experience, but great capacity for articulation with public and private agencies, allowing Olympic education to reach a level never before achieved in Brazil. Finally we have elements to conclude the educational legacy in values was more clearly limited to the school environment and shows signs of discontinuity in time.
